Earl Michael Owens, lovingly known as “Mike,” passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and deep devotion to family. His gentle spirit and jolly nature touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Susie, and his children: Don (Josie), Jeremiah, Travis (Jamie), and his cherished bonus daughter, Eshia. He was a proud and loving grandfather, holding each of his grandchildren close to his heart: Destiny (Donavan, Jax, and Aurora), Matthew, Ronin, Londyn, Fallyn, Natalie, KeTayah (Sa’Riah), Cataleya, Siera, Zamar, Chance, Tazaria, Tyce, Jamil, Zachary, and Elyas. His joy multiplied with every generation.
Mike is also survived by his siblings: Curtis (“Pig”), Louise (“Sister”), Helen Ruth (“Ruthie”), Jamie (Shelia), Mark (Ann), Regina, and Quincy. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father Lulabelle and James Owens, his brother Timmy John, and two nephews Lamonte "Smoke" and Keith "Keke". He is further survived by siblings by marriage, Lorraine “Teen”(Fran) and Allen (Shawn, Rod, Jansen), along with numerous other nieces and nephews and friends and family whom he loved dearly.
A retired roofer and barrel maker, Mike was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to help anyone in need. He professed his faith in Christ and lived it out daily through compassion, generosity, and love. His heart was as big as his smile, and he never hesitated to lend a hand or offer encouragement.
Mike was a diehard University of Louisville fan, proudly cheering on his Cardinals, and he lived life in a way that brought joy to others—kindhearted, lighthearted, and full of love. Above all else, family meant everything to him, and his grandchildren were his greatest treasure.
