James Dunlap Obituary

 

James Lewis Dunlap, “Playful” as he was called by many, born January 7, 1949 in Campbellsville, Kentucky to the late Helen Fisher and James W. Dunlap. He departed this life on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at the University of Louisville hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

He was a member of Fannie Chapel C.M.E. Church.

He was employed at Kentucky Utilities and Citizen’s Bank and Trust where he retired.

James enjoyed riding horses and attending horse races, so he would make it a point to attend all of the nearby fairs that held horse races. He also had a love for his dogs, cooking, and family time.

He leaves to cherish his memories his son, Anthro Alexander, Campbellsville, Ky; a daughter, Erika Thornton, Phoenix City, Alabama. His sisters Carol Robinson, Victoria Fay (Phil) Williams, Joyce Dunlap, Helen (William) Hazelwood all of Campbellsville, Kentucky and Felicia Dunlap Durham, Indianapolis, Indiana. His brothers Kenneth (Mable) Fisher, John Dunlap and David Paige all of Campbellsville, Kentucky. Donald Dunlap, Anchorage, Alaska, and James E. Dunlap, Indianapolis, Indiana. His grandchildren Acen and Abri Alexander, Greensburg, Kentucky and Malik Thornton and Elijah Schooler, Phoenix City, Alabama, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 13, 2026 at Fannie Chapel C.M.E Church with Rev. Dewayne Golighlty officiating. Burial will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 13, 2026 at the church.
