Margaret Lucille “Meatball” Newton gained her wings December 17, 2023, at U of L Hospital after a brief fight.

Lucille was loved and adored by so many, but her heart and soul were her “Girls” her mother, and all 13 brothers and sisters who will miss her dearly!

Lucille was born on July 25, 1956, to Elizabeth Ann King of Lebanon and the late Howard Dunn.

Third born seven months early, she was ready to see what this world had to offer. She took Catechism, attended, and was wed at St. Augustine of Lebanon, Kentucky.

Lucille favorite memory was helping her mother take of her brothers and sisters taking on odd jobs at 14 just to buy her baby brother Bradley clothes with her whole check. She was also a part of Marion County first African American class and graduated from Marion County in 1974.

Finding love at a young age she found love and married right out of high school Van Allen Newton from Campbellsville, Kentucky and moved to Detroit, Michigan for two years then returning to Kentucky moving to Louisville.

Lucille was very crafty and loved making things from her prom dress to all her husband’s clothes. She became a seamstress working for Enro and Fruit of the Loom for 35 years until her hand couldn’t. Lucille “Girls” was her heartbeat and her besties, but her sister was everything to her too.

She was preceded in death by Maternal and Paternal Grandparents, her father Howard Dunn, three sisters, Mary Ann Shockency, Emma P and Claudia Mae; one brother, David Keith Dunn.

She leaves to morn her girls, Vanetria Antoinette and Crystal Elizabeth both of Louisville, KY; her mother, Elizabeth A. King of Lebanon, KY; her husband, Van Allen Newton of Hodgenville, KY; three sisters, Jenifer Dunn, Deborah Johnson (Greg) and Delorse (Charles); five brothers, John Robert King of Louisville, KY, Donald Dunn, Bradley King, Chuck Dunn, Scotty Dunn and Phillip Dunn. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Hayes Brothers Funeral Home Campbellsville 710 East Broadway Campbellsville, Kentucky.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 22, 2023, at St. Augustine Catholic Church. A burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in Campbellsville.

Hayes Brothers Funeral Home Campbellsville is in charge of the arrangements.
