Mary Robinson Obituary

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Robinson was a pillar of strength, love, and wisdom, whose sunrise of life’s journey began on June 23, 1923, and peacefully came to its sunset on February 28, 2024.

Mary was born to Minnie and Brack Sanders, a lineage she honored and cherished throughout her life. She now reunites with her beloved parents and siblings Lindsey, Leonard, Harry, and Lucille, who preceded her in transition.

Mary’s faith was steadfast, and her devotion to the Bethel A.M.E. Church of the Burdick community was unwavering. Within its walls, she served with humility and grace, holding numerous roles that reflected her dedication to her community and her deep spirituality. From Sunday School teacher to Stewardess, from Trustee to Missionary,

Mary’s commitment was evident in every task she undertook. Her love for the harmonious strains of organ music was matched only by her own ability to create melodies on the piano, a skill she cultivated with passion.

A beacon of generosity and joy, Mary touched countless lives with her kindness. Her impact extended beyond the church walls; as a retired teacher, she shaped young minds with wisdom and care at the Smith-Ridge one room school. Mary’s pursuit of knowledge led her through the halls of Kentucky State College and Campbellsville College, where she graduated with degrees in Business Administration and Accounting. Together with her husband Samuel, she managed a thriving boating business, demonstrating her business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit.

For 72 years, Mary shared a profound love with her late husband Samuel. Together, they raised a family filled with love and devotion. While she is preceded in deathby her sons Joseph Samuel, Charles Walter, and Bruce Ambrose Robinson, Mary’s legacy lives on through her daughter Dr. Faye Robinson-Davis, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even a great-great-grandchild.

Mary’s extended family includes cherished sisters-in-law Lena Stiggers, Madelyn Dudley, and Rachel Taylor, her best friend and cousin, Dorothy Hall as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Among them, she held a special place in her heart for Stefan Taylor, Rev Joe Richardson, and Rev. James Washington, whose companionship and support brought her immeasurable joy. She found solace in the loving care of her niece, Pastor Doretha Sanders, whose selfless service was a source of comfort and inspiration.

Mary will be remembered for her wisdom, her laughter, her radiant smile, and her gentle spirit. Her culinary talents were legendary, bringing joy and nourishment to all who had the privilege of tasting her meals. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the legacy of love and compassion she leaves behind.

In honoring Mary’s memory, let us strive to embody the kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith that defined her life. Though she may have bid farewell to this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, dear Mary, knowing that your legacy of love will endure for generations to come.
