Mr. Richard Allen Denton was born December 22, 1937, in Campbellsville, Kentucky to the late William "Bill" Denton and Elizabeth Abell. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at ;Baptist Health Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
He professed hope in Christ at a revival at Pleasant Union carried on by Rev. Leonard Buckner of Danville, Kentucky and joined Pleasant Union under Rev. Donahue Price.
Bro. Denton served as a faithful member of the Trustee Board until the illness of his wife in 2012.
Mr. Denton had a farm and had a great love for farming as long as he was able.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Geneva Denton and several siblings.
He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Arlester McElroy of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Stanley McElroy (Norma) of Elizabethtown, KY, Fabian McElroy of Louisville, Kentucky and Donita McElroy Logan (Mark) of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends. Also by a special friend, Rev. Joe Richardson;
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Pleasant Union Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Pleasant Union Baptist Church until the time of service.
