Robert L. “Bert” Durham was born on February 11, 1937, to the late Hazel Durham Gowdy and Harry Durham. He quietly departed this life Friday, April 12, 2024, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, Kentucky.
He professed his faith in Christ at an early age and untied with First Baptist Church where he sung with the men’s choir. He was also awarded for being the oldest male member. Robert was also the First Baptist Church Softball coach for numerous years.
His hobbies were hunting and fishing. He was also an avid sports fan. He didn’t have a favorite sport, he watched all sports, but he loved his U of L Cardinals.
Robert attended and graduated from Durham High School in 1956. Where he played basketball for the Durham High School Hornets. In the later years when the Durham High School Reunion Committee was formed, he became a member and was the President of the committee. Robert also sang in the Durham High School Reunion Choir.
He was employed by Dairy Chapel Milk and Parker Kalon where he worked for 30 plus years.
In addition to his parents, Hazel Durham Gowdy and Harry Durham Sr., he is preceded in death by his stepfather James W. Gowdy, two brothers Harry Durham Jr. and Albert E. Durham, one son Robbie L. Durham, and daughter-in-law Tijuana Durham.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Margie Durham; two daughters LaDonna Durham, and Vonnie (Pete) Rice; Campbellsville, Ky; one son Bobbie Durham; Campbellsville, Ky; two grandsons Marlon Miller and Kenyon (Kim) Rice of Louisville, Ky; two granddaughters JaDiesha Durham; Spring Field, Ky; Stanisha Hughes; Louisville, Ky; four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 20, 2024 at First Baptist Church Campbellsville with Rev. Tyrone Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 20, 2024 at First Baptist Church Campbellsville.
