Samuel Buchanan

Samuel “ Tojo” Buchanan was born August 25, 1934 in Campbellsville, Kentucky 1934 in Campbellsville, Kentucky to the late Lena and Thomas Caldwell.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and joined Fannie Chapel C.M.E. Church were he served as President of the Trustee Board, sang with the Brotherhood Choir and he was the church’s Custodian.

Samuel was a licensed funeral director in the state of Kentucky and a member of the Kentucky Association of Morticians. He was a former owner of Buchanan, Robinson and Percell Funeral Home. He started working in the funeral industry in 1948 and served the Campbellsville Community faithfully until his death. At an early age he served in the United States Army. He was also graduate of Durham High School.

Those who knew Samuel “Tojo” Buchanan can and will say that he was simply a man of God. He loved the Lord, he loved his family he loved his church, and he loved his community.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Buchanan; his mother Lena Caldwell; special cousins, Howard Caldwell and Nell Groves.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Christopher Buchanan of Campbellsville, Kentucky; two brother in-laws, Maurice and Jerry Stigall of Sommerset, KY; special cousins, Margie Durham (Robert Lewis); James Caldwell of Campbellsville, Kentucky and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Fannie Chapel CME Church with Rev. Dewayne Golightly officiating. Burial will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Hayes Brothers Funeral Home Campbellsville.
